He was a good friend and colleague to me as a philosophy lecturer in Holy Cross College, Clonliffe and gave of himself and his intellectual gifts generously and warmly to students and colleagues alike. I remember with great affection and gratitude how he shared his love for, and insights into, the works of St. Augustine - a treasured heritage. Mairin, I was very sorry to learn of your brother's death. I only knew him as a patient in Fern Dean when he concelebrated Mass. I was full of admiration for him as he was always smiling and cheerful despite his deteriorating condition. May he rest in peace.

I express my deepest sympathy to Cass’s family at this most saddest moment in time. I was a fellow student and confrere for many a year. Cass was a great pal and friend. Yes the pipe and smile is his abiding memory. He was a very pleasant person and a true Christian. Will miss him in life but his Aura will always remain.

Fr Eoin taught me from 2010 to 2014 at Mater Dei Institute. He was a truly inspiring and committed scholar and educator, with a flair for engaging even the most disinterested of students! He lit a passion in me for truth and justice, for which I'll always be grateful. A sad loss. My deepest condolences to his family.

As a former student at Mater Dei Institute, I will always remember Eoin as the greatest teacher I've ever had. He was a titan of his craft and one of the most intelligent, resilient and dedicated men I've ever had the honour of knowing. An incredible loss to the world. May he rest in peace.

I'll always remember his wonderful Homilies in St Mary's Church, Haddington Rd. and his eternal sunny disposition.

He always welcomed GAA supporters on those memorable Sundays in September.

On behalf of Lansdowne LTC Bridge Club I would like to extend deepest sympathy to the family and colleagues of Father Eoin. He was a popular member of the bridge club for many years. He loved his bridge and was a very competitive player. May he rest in peace.

Deepest condolences to Mairin on this sad loss. Eoin was a lifelong and treasured friend who always gave, and never sought anything for himself. He had a wonderful sense of humour and adventure but, behind it all, was caring, sympathetic and serious about the important things in life. In later years he suffered his affliction without complaint. His company will be sorely missed.

Dear Mairin,
It was with great sadness that I learned of the death of Eoin. I knew Eoin for many years as a valued member of the staff of Mater Dei Institute of Education. He made a very significant contribution to the life of the Institute in many areas: as Head of the Philosophy department, as Registrar, as a teacher of philosophy, as one who served generously on many committees. Eoin wrote and edited many volumes over the years and was a significant voice on the relationship between faith and culture, faith and justice, faith and reason, religion and science. He was also highly respected in the area of Augustinian studies and the work of Charles Taylor. May he rest in Peace in Christ

Mairin, Condolences on the death of Eoin. Both he and Brian shared so many good times in our childhood as you well know. Great memories of tennis in Park Avenue, cricket in our back garden and annual trips to the Spring and Horse shows with our Brian and the Lindsay twins. And our cycling trips to climb Sugarloaf. Eoin is now at peace from his debilitating illness. Nothing to be done. Lots of love to you and yours.
