Sincerest sympathy to Máirín,Ann Marie and all the family. So sorry to hear of Dick's departure to heavenly golf courses on my return from Florida. We had great banter over the years on the golf scene. He has been happily united now with Dan and John whose friendship I also miss. I remember them in my prayers. Sincere condolences to the Dowling family. Mr Dowling taught me Geography in first year. Ahead of the Christmas exams, we inquired as to whether the questions would be easy. He assured us that the questions would be easy but the answers would be hard. He was a true gentleman.

Chong told me of your sad loss! I am especially sorry because your Dad didn’t have long enjoying his “new” Canadian grandchildren. They’ve not been there long but I suspect they have already made strong ties and will miss him sorely. It is hard for the rest of the clan too so please let them know there are some prayers being offered for your Dad and all of you, over here in Vancouver by our Mum and John and Cee and of course, Raquel, who is still in the Philippines with her lovely fiance, Abec.

My condolences to the Dowling family. Dick was a stalwart of junior golf in Waterford golf club, laying the foundations for years to come. He drove me and many others around the country to golf events and organised junior club competitions every Wednesday, always with a smile and a kind word. He was a real gentleman. Rest in peace.
