It was with great sadness that I learned of Dick’s passing from his son Conor.
As a client of our insurance booking business, Insurance Risk Solutions / Becketts, I always looked forward to our regular business meetings at which I was left in no doubt of Dick’s expectations on behalf of his Company but his requirements were always presented in a highly professional manner. Woe betide me if we failed to deliver!
Dick was always totally engaging, with a real sense of humour but above all a gentleman.
I was so pleased that just prior to my retirement were were able to share a lovely lunch together which allowed us to reminisce but also to share our mutual retirement plans. At this time Dick was in the process of selling his house and looking forward to returning to his beloved Ireland and retirement with his family.
It is so sad that he was not able to enjoy retirement for longer.
My thoughts and those of my ex colleagues are with his wife Sally and all the family at this difficult time. Above all else Dick was a consummate professional, a gentleman and family man. Rest in peace Dick.

Dear Sally, Sinead, Connor and Barry - we were very shocked to hear of DIck's passing. He was such a gentle soul, always so friendly to all our family, and always in such good humour. David, Paul and I were very fond of him. Our thoughts are with you all at this time.

I have fond memories of Dick from the class of ‘67 in St Munchin’s. We played rugby together and took part in the annual school play “Troubled Batchelors”. He was a thorough gentleman. Sadly I only met him once since we left school.
May he Rest In Peace.

Please accept my heartfelt sympathies for your loss. I hadn't seen Dick since we acted together in Dancing at Lughnasa.....an absolute gentleman and such fun. He loved his acting and he was damn good at it too. A big loss.
"Goodnight Dick, sleep well".

We are so sorry to hear your sad news. How you will miss such a delightful man. We have so many happy memories of him, not only as a neighbour in Guilden Morden, but also a fellow thespian in the Morden Players. He was such a fun loving man, and just the best at a party. The last to leave usually! Not only those party memories but of a person who was very kind, diplomatic, and with wisdom in difficult situations. We wish to be remembered to the family, and send our deep sympathy and loving thoughts.
