To Richies wife, children, relatives and friends, I extend my sincere condolences to you all on your tremendous loss...I knew Richie from being a Ladies Basketball player against his teams, as a coach against his junveile teams and as a Referree offical of his games. He was always curteous, respectful, friendly and witty in conversation. He was extremley passionate about the sport and always wanted the best for his players. His coaching skills were top of the range. He often said about his wife Breda..that both he and she would prefer if he had more time to spend at home and he was gearing towards this, but was taken too soon...His void will be immense on the sidelines for the 2024/25 season....we always aimed to beat Richies team to be top.!!! Ar dheis de go raibh a anam. (Ballyroan and Panthers clubs)
— Kathy Scully

Dear Breda...Sincere Sympathies to You, Rebecca, Aoibheann, Cian & Mia on your heartbreaking loss. Richie instilled a passion for Basketball in our household which gave us so many wonderful memories on and off the Court. The banter had..friendships made..teamates formed..tears of joy in winning and losing..experiences to be treasured and overall values learned under 'Coach Richie' will never be underestimated or forgotten. His unassuming pride in his own children's achievements did not go unnoticed and his pure selflessness to others outside of his family was commendable supported by yourself Breda.Absolutely no words for you and your incomprehensible loss... only.. from Shauna myself and Julia 'Thank You Richie for your Time...' Ar dheis Dé go raibh a h'anam dílis.
