When I first visited Uncle Bob and Auntie Carol in Almu, he took me fishing on the rubber dingy boat (I’d never been fishing before and I was only young). We went out to sea and I sat there with the rod for over an hour, waiting patiently for something to happen. finally I got my first nibble, I pulled the rod up as instructed and unfortunately lost the fish. Uncle Bob was fuming and gave me an earful! We came back to shore with a couple of small fish which he had caught.

After that we went fishing again together several times, thankfully I got better and avoided the scolding! I remember catching my biggest ever carp with my Uncle Bob. I’ve still got the picture and the rod I had caught it on which he later gave to me.

An unbelievably kind soul at heart, you’ll be forever missed.

I’ll always remember Sat in Uncle Bobs kitchen and no matter who he was talking to he’d say “no, no, no, what you wanna do right…” and continue with his opinion. As a kid, a role model that made you feel happy about the world. RIP Uncle Bob…
