Where do I start....Robert you were truly a very unique, smart, sharp person with a great sense of humour.

Working with you was an absolute joy, you taught me so much and for that I will forever be grateful.

My sincerest sympathy to Robert's relations and friends. I had the pleasure of helping him with his Irish when [ I think] they came from England to Beechwood Park about 1970. His parents and mine were great friends and neighbours.
Even at that age he was clever and bright and kind and courteous and sociable. I knew he'd do well.
Gone too soon.
May he RIP.
— James Cooney, Glen Park, Macroom.

A totally unique gentleman; world class company with amazing life experiences about the people he had met and places he had visited. His wise counsel and humour, I will hold dear and miss with equal measure. We were lucky to have had a small part of him. My condolences to Nesta, and his family and friends. May he rest peacefully.

Robert was a prize winning debater in the school senior team as a well as being an active member of the Students Council in the Patrician Academy. I recall great moments of his both in preparing for and in debating itself. His talents were never lost in anything he set his mind to. May Robert Rest in Peace.
— John Lucey, Rock Road, Mallow formerly Patrician Academy
Having met Robert through working together in 2018-19, I quickly came to appreciate his sharp mind, brilliant organisational abilities and his unique style of getting on so well with people and getting around them to deliver. We shared many common interests - in particular in racing - after we finished working together in 2019, we maintained contact and had an annual outing to the races together.
Robert was the ultimate professional with huge experience in his field - he always had a suggested solution to any problem.
But it was his unique personable style and great sense of humour that will remain with me now that he is gone. He was very proud of his family and connections to Mallow and Donegal while always speaking highly of his friends and neighbours in UK.
Robert always had things to do and people to meet and socially was great fun.
Now that he has joined his much loved Mum, may his gentle soul rest in peace. You will be missed, Robert.
— JJ Ryan
I am very sorry to hear of Robert's passing. It is lovely to see the messages already posted here from people who knew Robert over the years. I was in school with Robert and a contemporary in UCC. Some familiar names here and some who knew Robert more recently.
I spent a few years in the UK and used to meet him over there. I remember staying with him in Hammersmith shortly after he moved to London. Sadly the last time I spoke to him in person was in Naas pre-Covid. He had a great brain and was highly organised. He loved his horse racing and other sports.
RIP Robert
Kieran

We were in the same year in secondary school and we did the same degree course in UCC. After college we both went to the UK and would meet up regularly during my time there. Heartbroken to hear of your passing,Robert R.I.P may your beautiful soul rest in eternal peace. Reunited with your loving Parents Paddy & Phil
Fond memories of you all, which I will cherish forever. Can still hear your beautiful Mum saying in her sweet Cork accent "Bob! no Bob lives here, his name is Robert." when we came to visit them in Mallow Cork (Summer 1985).
Also I remember saying,"Hate drivers who overtake you on the motorway, then exit on the next junction."
Your reply was "I'm one of them drivers."
Then we laughed. Fly high until we meet again. Goodnight & GodBless xxXxx

I had the honour of knowing Robert and working alongside him for the last 3-4 years.
So rarely do you come across someone like Robert who combined such a sharp brain with vast experience, huge tenacity and energy, and on top could maintain such a calm and dignified demeanour in all circumstances. No matter what challenges lay ahead (or suddenly emerged), with Robert on our side we knew we’d find a way through. Outside of work Robert was great fun with a drink in hand and a story or two to share.

We are all shocked and deeply saddened by his sudden passing. Condolences to all of Robert's family and his many friends in Mallow and further afield.

Rest in Peace Robert, reunited with your loved ones in Mallow.

Deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Robert.
I have known him since our ‘Academy’ days and our interest in politics and horses gave us much to talk about down the years.
He was a wonderful son to his late parents and a loyal and helpful friend to so many from Mallow and much further afield.
He will be long remembered with profound respect and affection.
May he rest in peace.
— Paul Bradford.
I first met Robert in secondary school. My husband Joe and I got to know him better in UCC, and then stayed in contact for the more than 35 years we've been in London. He moved us into our first flat - he had a company car before anybody else! His drive and energy were remarkable - but he was a gentle soul. As others have remarked, his devotion to his parents was extraordinary. He was due to attend a 40-year reunion in UCC in just a few weeks time. We are shocked and saddened by his passing and will remember him fondly always. Ar dheis Dé go Raibh a Anam.

We are very sorry to learn of the untimely passing of Robert. Eventhough our paths didn't cross to the extent that we could say we knew you well, Robert, we can surely say we knew of you, of your exemplary love, gratitude, dedication to your Parents, especially your late Mam, in her widowed years until her own death . It is the mark of the good person you were to have accompanied her so closely, generously, and with such steadfastness, in her senior years. You have set the bar very high.
As we read the lovely condolences your friends have already put in, is is not in the least difficult to understand that your warmth, kindness and all of the other good attributes they found in you have left a deep impression.
May Robert Rest in Peace, reunited with all those he loved who went before him.
Our Condolences to all of Robert's extended family and his friends.
