We are very sad by the news of Rory's passing but will always keep in mind the happy times we had together with Rory and Koen: the fantastic wedding party with lots of dancing, our visits to London, Wezembeek, Antwerp, the two cats Tom & Jerry ... we always enjoyed passionate discussions about what's going on in the world, together with a nice glass of wine. You will be missed, Rory. We should all be there for your dear husband Koen and help him through this difficult moment.

I worked with Rory during Caryle's ownership of Addison Lee. He was kind, generous and supportive, always using his powerful intellect as a force for good in business and in the world. His sparkling wit made lunches fun and interesting. I always learned something after each interaction with him.

We are sending our sincere condolences to Rory's partner and family. Rory had been a committee member of our Charity for many years. His gentle support and wisdom were hugely valued by us especially during challenging times such as recent months. He was planning to take up a more permanent role on our Trustee Board in the coming weeks so that he could share even more of his expertise and knowledge for the good of our long term future. We will miss him so much, he is truly irreplaceable...

I worked briefly with Rory but didn't know him well at all. I reached out to him last year for career advice not expecting a reply and in return got such generosity and kindness. Rest in peace and love to his friends and family.

My heartfelt condolences to Koen and Rory's family, friends and colleagues on such a tragically sad loss. Rory was a truly delightful, wise and charming person and whatever loss we may each feel at his passing, our lives are very much the richer for having known him.

It is not often that one can truly call a neighbour "friend", but Rory was that neighbour. Kind, witty and decent, he will be sorely missed. My thoughts go out to Koen and to all his friends and relatives.

Rory was such a warm, lovely man. He was my colleague for a few years, and the last time I ever saw him in person, he knew I was going through some difficult times and he put his arm around me and gave me an immense amount of reassurance and comfort. That was hardly the only time he warmed up my world, but it's the one that will stick with me.

I was lucky enough to get to know Rory in 2014 and to have enjoyed his confidence over the past 6 years. It was a privilege to work for him. I also had the pleasure of staying with you both when over for a Bell party and you looked after me so well and made me felt so welcomed.

I am so sad and sorry to hear of Rory's death. We became Trustees of World Child Cancer at around the same time, and I came to know him a little, and found him just such a lovely man. He was a huge asset to the charity and will be missed for his commitment and dedication to the cause, always looking at ways to support both the organisation and the individuals working there. We will miss his warm smile and his positive presence within our Board. My heart goes out to those he leaves behind.

Rory was such an important part of our family here at Carlyle and he will be missed sorely by all. He was always there, a kind ear to bend on any issue – professional or personal. He really cared about people and was so passionate. Even after I moved away, he would always check in. I last saw him for coffee on a recent business trip to New York. I will fondly remember him setting the world to rights over his pumpkin spiced latte before making me laugh with tales from his travels…

Dear Rory, I have so many wonderful memories linked to the good old times at AmCham EU and countless presidency delegation trips. It is with the deepest regret and sadness that I heard Rory's news on this cold Summer morning. I worked with Rory for over a decade at the Carlyle Group, and throughout this period he was a beacon of optimism and earnestness, always striving to do the right thing for the company, for society and for the world. He had an impact on many of us which I hope will provide hope in these troubled times. We miss you greatly Rory.

I am so saddened ,unbearably so to hear of Rory’s passing . Our friendship started in the 70’s and lasted through Trinity and for some years after. Then life’s decisions sent us our separate ways .Rory travelled the world and I was much less adventurous.I was always delighted to hear of the successes and achievements Rory had but never surprised. My only regret now is busy lives meant we did not keep in touch. Rest In Peace Rory. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam.

So sad that Rory has been taken from us. He was always good company, charming, supportive and kind. It must be a terrible loss for his family and loved ones, but know that he left an indelible mark of affection on so many friends.
