I am deeply sad to hear of the passing of Rufina. As principal nurse tutor at the School of Nursing, the Beaumont she gave me my first nurse teaching job in 1999. She was an amazing manager, person and nurse lecturer. She was warm and welcoming treating everyone the same. She had incredible common sense and wisdom. In my career since then, and having moved home to Galway, I have drawn on my learnings from Rufina several times over the years. Thinking of her husband David, her beloved Anne and her extended family, friends and work colleagues from the Beaumont and DCU. May Rufina rest in peace x

To Rufina’s family - May you know the influence she had on other people’s lives. She demonstrated to the highest level how much care for others matters. Amongst others I was tutored to a very high standard by Rufina. Her teachings alone sent people far and wide with a level of expectation of how the sick should be treated. There is no other greater legacy one can leave. Her loss ripples. May you find peace in gaining that knowledge. Sleep the sleep of the just Rufina.
— Deirdre Donnelly
