Our deepest sympathies to our lovely wonderful sister Una and all her beautiful children Una, Niamh, Donal, Fionnuala, Lorcan, Seamie, Ida and Darach on the sad loss of dear Seamus. One of the most endearing qualities of Seamus was his generous heart. He neve sought material or financial gain for help he gave to any person or cause. When both my dear Late parents were ill Seamus wanted to take both of them into his and Una's care and give them half his house to live in, that was Seamus's nature. We have many, many treasured and lasting memories of him, he was loyal in good times and bad. The light of heaven to you Seamus. May the choir of heavenly angels greet you. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam

Sincere sympathy to Úna and the extended Mac Mathúna family on the death of Séamus, a remarkable musician, leader and a towering figure in all aspects of our culture. As a life- long friend, I am proud that I was involved with him on many projects over the years and saw first-hand his inspiring personality and boundless enthusiasm. He was universally loved and admired by all who met him and his name will be remembered for years to come where ever Irish music is played.

Comhbhrón ó chroí do Úna agus do chlann Mhic Mathúna uilig, ar bhás Shéamuis, RIP.. Ceoltóir, fonnadóir, cumadóir, eagraí den chéad scoth agus cara dilis, ionraic le pearsantacht gleoite, ab ea é Séamus. Ní raibh ach Séamus amháin ann, agus cinnte, ní bheidh a leithéid ann arís.
Bhí aithne agam ar Shéamus le na cianta agus d'oibrigh muid le chéile ar gach uile ní a bhí baint leis, ar Fhleadh Cheoil na hÉireann. Nuair a smaoiníonn siar, nach breá an sásamh a bhí ann. Go raibh míle maith agat a Shéamuis agus táim cinnte go bhfuil tú ins na bhFlaithis ar dheis lámh Dé ag 'gabháil fhíonn' agus ag seinm ceoil.

It is with a heavy heart and with much sadness I pay respect to the passing of my mentor, teacher and friend Séamus MACMATHÚNA. Alongside the other extraordinary mentors and teachers in my youth, It is close to impossible to capture the generosity, the passion and the commitment to fostering talent Séamus gave all day, every day to both preserve and promote our culture and traditions both at home and on an international stage. So many fond memories and stories that often rotate around ‘the yellow van’ - that literally kept the show on the road for many years.
I will never forget that incredible performance of Mo Gile Mear with all those amazing nuances of beat and intonation that simply evoked centuries of tradition – often with joy and sometimes with sadness.

And for now we are sad again.
RIP Séamus MACMATHÚNA
