Comhbhrón ó chroí do Mháire, a clann agus muintir Uí Bheaglaoich uilig, ar bhás Shéamuis, RIP.
Ba bhreá le ár máthair (Mháirín Bhean Mhic an tSaoir atá imithe ar slí na fírinne í féin) a leagan de Beir mo Dhúthracht. Ba iontach an ghuth a bhí aige.

Leaba i measc na naomh go raibh aige. Ni bheidh a leithéid ann arís.

Muintir Nic an tSaoir (Sayers) Doire Mhór (Derrymore) Tralí
— Gerardín Nic an tSaoir

Comhbhrón ó chroí do Mháire, a clann agus muintir Uí Bheaglaoich uilig, ar bhás Shéamuis, RIP..
Is bocht an tír í Éirinn agus dar ndóigh, an Domhan mhór, gan Séamus Ó Beaglaoich a bheith beo.
Daoine ar leith ab ea iad na Beaglaoichí i gcónaí agus bhí Séamus mar laoch agus ceannaire in a measc.

Ceoltóir, fonnadóir le glór galánta, fear greannmhar agus ionraic ag an am céanna, fear cairdiúil agus lách ab ea é Shéamus. Ní raibh agus ní bheidh a mhacasamhail ann. Buíochas le Dia go bhfuil taifeadaí ar fáil.

Go ndéanfaidh Dia trócaire ar a anam uasal.
Ní imithe uainn atá sé, ach imithe romhainn.
— Liam Ó Cuinneagáin, Comhaltas, Baile Ros Comáin
Comhbhrón ó chroí le Mary, Breanndán, Eoin, Níall, Méabh, a dheartháireacha, deirfiúracha agus gach duine atá faoi bhrón i ndiaidh bás obann James. Trócaire sna Flaithis ar a anam. RIP
— Muintir Curnáin, Cill Chúile
I always loved to sing at a session even though I don't have a good voice but took every opportunity to do so in front of a small gathering when given the licence.
I met Seamus about 20 years ago and found his hospitality and his generosity amazing. I'd go out of my way to go anywhere that he might be doing a gig to soak up his talent. I was fortunate to be at sessions with him in Tigh Beaglaoigh, An Cúinne, An Droighead and the Síbín with his friends and neighbours at which if I was lucky Seamus would allow me to give my tuppence halfpenny worth because he knew I loved to join in. I probably overdid it, but such was the enjoyment to be in his company and to hear his sweet voice and perfectly timed jokes and stories. I will never forget this wonderful man with his great smile and his expressive eye raising looks when he played a polka or slide on his music machine. May he rest in peace and give his all to heaven.
— Damien
Sincere sympathy to all the family. I have a lovely black and white picture of you and I in an Droichead beag when you kindly offered to place your accordion on my lap. Rest in peace Séamus.
— Michael and Marie Moriarty Ardbraccan
Sincere condolence to Maura, Maura P., Roisin, Neasa, Micheal and all the Begley's.
— Rowan Fealy
Deepest sympathy to all the family on the sad passing of Seamus; may he rest in peace. May the beautiful words of John O’Donohue’s poem bring comfort and solace to you.
‘Though we need to weep your loss,
you dwell in that safe place in our hearts,
where no storm or night or pain can reach you.
Let us not look for you only in memory,
where we would grow lonely without you.
You would want us to find you in presence,
Beside us when beauty brightens,
where kindness glows,
And music echoes eternal tones’.
(John O’Donohue)
— Mick & Ann Smyth & Family, Dublin
I was so very sad when I heard Séamus had passed away. I did not know him personally but met and heard his brother Breandán play at sessions in Hughes back in the day. I hope this is not too late to send but I just wanted to say that Bruach na Carraige Báine agus Máirín de Barra sung by Séamus always captured my heart... His was the most beautiful male voice in Ireland . He sang from his heart. I bought the Begley and Cooney CD when it came out and played it to bits; listened to him on radio and TV. Loved his ceol and his sense of humour. To all his family I am so sorry for your loss Beannachtaí ar a anam dílis

An-bhrón orainn scéal bháis Shéamuis a chlos. Duine uasal, stuama, séimh ab ea é a mhúscail agus a threisigh spéis sa cheol i morán daoine. Is mór an chailliúint é. It was just reading the article on 24th Jan 2023 on Séamus by Jim O'Brien in The Independent that had me 'join the dots' so to speak between Séamus, John Moriarty, Seamus Heaney agus Bono, and then Eric Schmidt as Chairman of Google Inc.

The latter who when asked of the elusive solution to Ireland's industrial policy, proclaimed that we should 'look no further than our poets', though one wonders would he have gone deeper if he was familiar with the Chorca Dhuibhne pair?

Séamus and Seamus, and Bono in his new book Surrender, purvey all things HomePlace, Dinnseanchas, Digging, Harvesting and, well entertaining. Moriarty was even, well deeper - Irelands greatest thinker?

A superficial enough link is the stirring of our DNA to get the story out and which of course is the foundation of, well Mr Schmidt's poetry, poets - Bards we call 'em Eric!

Sympathy to kin and clan, RIP Séamus and, well, the thought can be bleak no more!
— Brendan, Ballyfireside
To all the Begley family and extended family, we extend our deepest sympathy on the death of Seamus. A personality larger than life itself, he will be very much missed in the local area, in music circles and the wider entertainment field. His passing will leave a huge void. May he rest in peace.
— Joan & Kerry Barrett, Ballyheigue, Co Kerry
My sincere condolences to Maire and all the Begley family on the heartbreaking loss of your beloved Seamus. We who did not know him as you did, still feel a profound uaigneas at his passing. He brightened every room and session which he graced. A rollicking night in the Crosses of Annagh near Milltown Malbay springs to mind. Seamus was at the helm, surrounded by a score of musicians, all inspired by his passion, his energy, his talent, his divilment and his obvious warmth. The enthralled listeners transported by his infectious playing, tapped their feet or danced on the spot. And then there was his achingly sweet and beautiful singing voice which would melt a stone. May you continue to captivate your listeners in the next world,Seamus. Thank you for the joy your brought and will continue to bring..
— Maura Kilfeather - a Sligo fan

Cómhbhrón ó chroí le Muintir Uí Bheaglaoich uilig ar imeacht Shéamuis ar shlí na fírinne.
Ealaíontóir cruthaitheach a chuireadh beocht draíochtúil sa bhosca ceoil a d'fhágadh fé gheasa tú. Bhí binneas gutha aige a d'éireodh gan stró de dhroim Binn Baile Reo go barra Cnoc Bhréanainn.
Thar aon rud eile bhí daonnacht as an ngnáth ann a chaith go fial le cách. Duine íseal uasal le féith an ghrinn go smior.
Cé go mbraithimid uainn go mór ár laoch beidh Séamus agus a shaibhreas ceoil i gcuimhne na ndaoine go brách.
Go gloise tú ceol na n-aingeal a Shéamuis.
Uinsionn, Máire, Niamh & Fiachra Ó Gairbhia.

Marie and Family. We were so sorry to hear of the untimely passing of Seamus.
I know it's little comfort to you all but Seamus will be truly missed in a much larger circle. I never had the pleasure of meeting Seamus but seeing his smile at the start of any TV Show or hearing his name on RnaG always meant music to the highest standard. A big man with a bigger talent.
Rest in Peace
