Dear Nanny

You can shed tears that grandad is gone,
Or you can smile because he loved,
And chose you to be by his side,
Always.

My nanny you may close your eyes, and pray for his return,
Or you can open your eyes,
And spy on all the glory and beauty, He has left for you to treasure.

My nanny your heart may feel empty,
Cos you can't see grandad or touch him,
Or it may be filled with the warmth,
Of his love,
Of moments and memories
Together you shared.

My nanny you can turn your back on tomorrow,
And live in yesterday,
Or you can be happy for tomorrow
Cos of the yesterday shared with grandad.

My nanny you can vanish in the pain of his loss,
Or you can cherish his memory
And see him in your children , grandchildren, Great grandchildren,
And great great grandson.

My nanny, I promise that grandad's love for us,
Will keep you warm on cold days,
Cos you will recognise his mould,
Reflected in our love for you.

Thus my sweet, sweet nanny,
Our grandad will continue to love you,
Even though you can't see him,
Always and forever loving you.

Lots of love,
Kay,
— Karen Zinaka

My heartfelt sympathies to Maureen, Gary, MJ, Derek, Lydia all the grandchildren and the Maher Family.

Seamus was a gentleman and it was always a pleasure to be in his company because there was never a dull moment. (only hurting ribs from laughing.)

He welcomed all of us in his family . My mother came to Kilkenny a few times and she always felt at home. Seamie was the only grandfather Paige and Titus knew ; Seamie never treated them differently.

Sleep well Seamie. You will be missed.

We met Seamus and Maureen at several family occasions. Seamus was always welcoming to  us, with a mischievous smile and a witty and charming way with words. He was entertaining and easy to be around.

He was clearly very proud of his family and especially his grandchildren. He loved being with the family and we could see that he enjoyed these occasions to the full.

We were impressed with how, despite illness and advancing age, he continued working and  remained active and engaged with life.

We remember him with great fondness and affection.

From David, Amy, Georgia and Dhun.

I’d thank granddad for everything he ever did for me. A strong wise man with a kind heart- he was a man of pride! He always met me with open arms, kind words, a funny one-liner! Many memories in London and Kilkenny, from swimming, Oscar (his late dog) to walking in at the right time when Nana was telling me stories of the factories... I hope he found his peace in heaven- preferably a heaven that doesn’t serve chicken. From I remember he wasn’t a fan of chicken.
— Trish Mubika
