Honor and family, so sorry to hear about the death of your Dad. Thinking of you and the boys. Niamh. (choir)
— Niamh Corrigan
Very sorry to hear of Sean’s passing - I am 1 of many that have great memories of a teacher & dean that made school a lot more enjoyable for many of us.
I used to ‘suffer’ the odd convenient migraine & when he’d see me coming to his office to avoid something, he’d comment here’s Relihan & his Hisgraines again!
RIP Sean
— Rob Relihan
Condolences to Seán's family. He was my English teacher in the late 1970s, and one of the best I ever had the good fortune to meet.
— George McDonnell
Although many years have passed since I sat in Sean's class, I have always put my love of language down to him. Patience and tolerance were a couple of other traits that made him a great teacher and one of the few that leave me with happy memories of my school years.
My sincerest sympathies to all the Byrne family at this time, may he rest in peace.
— Ross Murphy, Melbourne

A Legend of a man!. Sean had a huge influence on my life in Blackrock College and only last week I actually posted in the 1987 Past Students Group that he was the best teacher I had ever encountered.

One of my classmates said that he was caught smoking by Sean one day. Instead of reprimanding him…he lit up and smoked with him!!. Stephen coached me and Donn smoked with me!. Rest In Peace.

Sad to hear of his passing. A wonderful, brilliant teacher, with a sense of FUN not shared by many in the 70/80’s. He saw beyond the “messer” and instilled a love of English that endures.

To all the Byrnes, sorry to hear of the death of your Dad. With all the other news, it was brilliant, funny, irreverent, committed and caring teachers like your Dad and his pal Barry that we all remember fondly along with the acerbic put downs. Always a pleasure to meet in the Rugby Club or in Shankill.
