The Association of Medical & Dental Graduates of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland extends deepest sympathy to the family of our graduate colleague and dear friend, Dr Desmond McGrath. From his graduation at RCSI in 1945 and throughout his long professional life, Des exemplified the best qualities of a doctor, healing, treating and always comforting his patients. He was generous in sharing his knowledge and experience in his specialist areas of psychiatry and legal medicine with students and colleagues, giving gentle encouragement to many young doctors. Des was involved in our Association for many years and was President in 1964. He believed in the importance of supporting colleagues and gave practical assistance to many experiencing difficulties. We give thanks for his life and legacy. May he rest in peace

Deepest sympathy to Patrick and Dr Mc Graths family'. I had the honour and pleasure of working with him in St John Of God Hospital. He was a wise man who could lead and inspire my generation of doctors.He looked young and fresh long after his retirement 'May he rest in peace.

The Council & members of the Medico Legal Society of Ireland wish to extend their sincerest sympathies to the family of the late Des McGrath. Des was a founding member of our society in 1956 and served as its 8th President in 1968, and more recently was a much loved Patron. His influence on the society was immeasurable and it’s ongoing success today is a tribute to his vision and energy. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
