have only now learnt of Jack dying. i am so sorry to have missed it.
we went back a long time doing soup runs with Simon on a saturday night. we met often in marley park for walks coffee and cake and great chats. often met him at protests especially at American embassy.
he intoduced and got me involved working with Travellers in South Dublin.
he was a kind gentle man. i have missed him due to his illness in recent times.
my regards to the family and Brid in particular who provided patient and loving care to him.

It's so very sad when we start to loose this generation, but we have lots of lovely memories from our family gatherings in Grandma and Grandad's house and other family homes to ease the pain of loss. Deepest condolences to Seán's family at what must be a very sad time. He taught me Latin and Maths in the mid '70's and I fondly remember his warmth and kindness and also his keen sense of humour.

Almost half a century ago Seán saw the appalling living conditions of our Traveller Community, the lack of amenities the hardship for little children----And Wept ----.
He dried his tears and started a campaign, a long hard, heartbreaking, uphill campaign for change and improvement for our Travellers.
He succeeded!
His journey is recorded in a book
"From A Field In Foxrock"
Down the years he befriended, guided and continued to fight for their rights. Today his name rolls lovingly off the lips of Travellers young and old.

Very sad to learn of the passing of Mr Ryan. He taught me Latin between 1981 and 1986 in Gormanston College. He was one of those great and memorable teachers (for all the right reasons) but more than that he was an outstanding person - hugely generous, charitable and compassionate.

I bumped into him and Brighdín a few times in the years since school and always enjoyed our brief conversations. Those who were close to him must be feeling a huge loss these days - my sincerest condolences to you all, Brighdín and family.

May his gentle soul rest in peace now.

Condolences to the Ryan Family. I met Jack when working with the Simon Community and his visits were always enjoyed by the workers and the residents. He showed great compassion and spent hours listening and chatting with us all. I reread his book last year and it brought many memories.
