I knew Sean for at least thirty years, his family were his number one concern. He was a gentle natured man, who didn't suffer fools gladly. He loved a good bit of banter , was sharp witted and loved a yarn. His skills as a barman were second to none, easy to see how he's mentioned in Frank Mc Nally's - An Irishman's Diary - in the Irish Times (Saturday 13th) as possibly the longest serving-barman 53 years at Grogan's in South William Street. "The combination of longevity and the respect of his customers earned him a distinction more normally reserved for saints : commemoration in a stained glass window, thanks to an installation at the pub by artist Katherine Lamb". I'm very saddened by his death as he was one of life's gentleman. Condolences sincerely to his wife Teresa and the two girls. RIP Sean

A true gent and traditional barman who served me pints of Guinness since the mid 1980s and was a very welcome face to see when I returned to Ireland and went into my favourite haunt. He will be truely missed by all who knew him and stepped into Grogans. Condolences to his family and friends and may he rest in peace and continue to serve pints to all those who have gone before him. Forever mortalised on the stained window, his soul will live on in the Castle Lounge.

Very sad to hear of Sean's death, it seems like only yesterday we were chatting outside Grogans. Sean was a genuinely lovely person and a fantastic barman, always had time for a chat, no matter how busy he was. I always looked forward to seeing him in my trips Dublin.
