My deepest sympathy to Anne, Darach, Leah, Aoife & all the extended families on the sad passing of Sean. I was extremely saddened on hearing the news through Joe Guerin of Sean’s sad passing. I have known Sean for over 40 years. We soldiered together in St. Partricks ESB staff credit union. Sean had a deep understanding of the rules & regulations which the credit union operated under & his application & attention to detail of same was second to none. He was always attired extremely well & he would always be selected first as best turned out If there was a competition. Socially, he was excellent company & loved to talk Offaly hurling & football, golf, politics & the most robust discussion would be related to matters credit union. An abiding memory of mine is on the Monday following Seamus Darby’s goal, Sean fielded an imaginary football outside ESB head office but on landing injured his ankle & missed the homecoming celebrations in Tullamore that evening much to his annoyance. He will be sadly missed.
— Chris Hussey, St Patricks credit union ESB staff ltd

I have pleasant memories of Sean from the time when he and I worked on the installation of the 'new' ESB head office telephone exchange back in 1981/82. Sean had extensive knowledge of the ESB telephone network and was particularly helpful to me, a young engineer on my first 'major' project. I think I learned more from Sean about PABX equipment than from anyone else!
As former president of St. Patrick's credit union, Sean was also a useful man to know where matters of finance were concerned. I will certainly miss him.
My sincere condolences to his family and friends at this sad time.
