Dear Cloda, Niall, Andrew, Adriana, and all the extended family, Heartfelt condolences on the death of your father. We remember him so fondly, starting with our student days in Ireland, when Sean and Kathleen and Cloda used to entertain us at 3 Orchardstown Drive. He was the kindest man we ever knew, a gracious host, who took infinite pains to make the coffee weak enough for Susan, a keen sportsman (though he never persuaded us of the virtues of strenuous activity, the nearest he got was teaching us to play boules when we spent a week with you in Brittany), and the possessor of a droll sense of humor, as evidenced by his becoming the world’s leading authority on the care and feeding of saxum dilectum (the scientific name for the pet rock). May he rest in peace (we are sure he will).
— Liz, Susan, and Paula (Boston, MA)
