Our sincere sympathy to Victoria, Siobhan, Maurice and all your family and friends.

Not often a nation stops;
Stops to cry,
Collective breath and deep sigh.

"Stop the clocks", close the shops, open windows, open doors - Line the roads.

Heads turn and high shouts cross reverent scaffolds amidst quiet applause.

"Tis Shane Mac Gowan"

Last drop for the long road, his story often grasped but never told.

What a heart and beautifully bold,
Couldnt be bought, couldnt be sold.

And no, no his story will never be told but we will jump the pews - dance, sing, curse and cry - in equal measure all the while.

As in his passing we can only try.

Tis not often a nation stops, stops to cry;
Collective Breath, Deep Sigh...

"Twas Shane, Shane Mac Gowan, he's just gone by"

Deepest condolences to Victoria, Siobhan and Maurice and all Shane's many friends. Always in awe of his immense talent. I remember working in HMV when 'The Crock of Gold' came out. Maurice came in to the shop and we had a nice chat. He wanted to make sure the album was in a prominent position in the window, and spoke of how Shane always had the greatest of praise and accolades but he was worried he wouldn't have the few bob he richly deserved. The conversation has been in my head this last couple of weeks as I watched the the outpouring of love for Shane in Ireland. I hope it has comforted his family. Loved and beloved.
