Sile Connaughton-Deeny elegantly combined her career as a widely respected and influential figure in the world of Irish contemporary art with her life as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She brought the work of some of Ireland’s most talented artists to the attention of a wider public at the Jorgensen and Oriel galleries. Her lucid, perceptive and illuminating analyses of their paintings and sculptures reflected her deep knowledge of art history and wide reading. We offer our heartfelt condolences and profound sympathy to her daughters Leda, Shaula and Cordaella. Their academic achievements and successful careers brought pride and joy to her and her greatly loved and greatly missed husband Arthur Deeny.
— Michael and Maggie Deeny
