Madame St Columban (Sr Ann Breen) taught us Geography for the Intermediate. We all loved her and wanted to get high marks, but the highest she ever awarded was six and a half! She was always cheerful and was very kind to us. We enjoyed our walks with her from lodge to lodge and were devastated when she left for Japan with Sr Claire. As was the tradition, we all went to the railway field to wave them off. She wrote us wonderful letters from the voyage out. (And almost forty years later, she wrote another lovely letter when she had read the centenary publication 'The Voyage Out'). Our deepest sympathy to the Infant Jesus Sisters, especially those who made her final years so comfortable in St Joseph's, and to all Ann's family. May she rest in peace and rise in glory!
