Sr. Camillus (Kathleen) GAVIGAN

I went to Our Lady of the Assumption from 1984 thru 1995. I remember Sr. Camillus leading the church choir every Wednesday and Sunday for Mass. Even when I would come back to church as an adult after many years away Sr. Camillus always greeted me with a warm smile and handshake, she was devoted to God and her students. I remember her fondly,

Sad to learn of the passing of Sr Camillus, she was our teacher in Convent of Mercy, Elphin where she taught us Latin and Roman History & Irish. Fond memories of a vibrant, enthusiastic young nun in the late 60's early 70's. Condolences to her family, Mercy Sisters & friends. Rest in Peace 🙏Eileen & Judy Conway, Rathcroghan & Dublin.

I was very sorry to learn of the death of Sr. Camillus, may her good soul rest in peace. Sr. Camillus taught me in Elphin, Convent of Mercy Secondary School for five years. She was a wonderful and fair teacher, she excelled in teaching Latin and Irish ,I well remember the Latin tests every Friday!!
I send my condolences to her nephews, and nieces, and the Sisters of Mercy.

My sympathies to Joe, the extended Gavigan & Kennedy families & The Sisters of Mercy on the passing of Sr Camillus/Kathleen. As a next door neighbour in Weekfield I have lovely memories of Sister Camillus visits home, especially from Calefornia, much more often in later years. Great excitement in the Gavigan/Kennedy household. As I spent so much time in their house I always felt part of the welcome home. She held on to her lovely dark hair to the end, as did her mother before her. A really lovely lady. RIP.

I was so sorry to read of the passing of Sr. Cammilus. She was a wonderful teacher in the Convent of Mercy , Elphin , secondary school.I have lovely memories of her. She was a beautiful singer & she taught singing to us last class before end of school. She always used her tuning fork. I was devastated when I heard she was leaving to go to Sacramento, California. I actually wrote to her & got a lovely letter back. She was a lovely person & a fair teacher.
May her gentle soul rest in Eternal peace.

My sincerest condolences to the Sisters of Mercy, Mercy Associates and friends and especially to her family. Sister was so very loved by her friends in California. She was one of my dearest friends along with the other Sisters. Some of my fondest memories are when we went to visit the Nursing Homes and on one occasion as we were leaving this particular home, one of the older gentleman asked her if she was a virgin. I was shocked but she said to him with a smile yes John I am a virgin and we left smiling. When I was working in the office, located in the old convent, she would bring me a cup of tea. She was always afraid of thunder and lightning storms and when she was alone she would always come up to our home. I have so many more wonderful memories with her. She will be truly missed. I know she is with our Dear Lord, His beautiful Mother Mary. all the angels and saints playing her harmonica and watching over all of us. Eternal rest grant to her Dear Lord and may she rest in peace.
