Saddened to learn of the death of Sr. Clare. Met her occasionally when I drove my sister Dolores for coffee to catch up on both their lives. Best buddies in Nigeria and later in Dun Lughaidh, they spent many summer holidays together with Sr. Martinian prior to Dolores’ illness. Clare has achieved remarkable work in her own quiet but effective low-key way. May her gentle soul now reap the fruits of her labour. Sincere condolences to St. Louis Sisters and to Clare’s extended family.

In loving memory of our strong, energetic and dutiful principal in Mount Carmel Girls secondary school. Ikare Akoko.Rev. Sr Clare Ryan (Alonso) whose death occured on Wednesday 31st, 2024.
We your past students will forever remember you for your firmness, your fairness and your dedication. You were a real Missionary, a visionary and a great psychologist who could read our minds and could see beyond us. Most of the times, Sr could figure out who the offender was even though she was not present. She made us to study hard and brought out the best in us. She was a woman of integrity and substance . A great disciplinarian, yet very kind.
Continue to rest in perfect peace

I, along with former students of Mount Carmel Girls College, Ikare Akoko, Ondo State, Nigeria, and the Sisters of St Louis, express our condolences to the family of Sister Clare Ryan, affectionately known as Sr Alonso in Nigeria.
When I joined the school in 1984, I didn’t personally meet her in Mount Carmel. However, she was renowned among past students from Oka Akoko, Ondo State, Nigeria, for her love, attention to detail, and firmness, among other qualities. May Sister Alonso rest in perfect peace and may her family find solace, amen!

Sorry to hear of the passing of Sr. Clare. Clare a formidable woman and religious sister. She was the cornerstone of many developing projects in the Coxes Demesne and surrounding areas, which has shaped those communities into the vibrant and ongoing developments that exists even to this day. Clare was an extraordinary intelligent human being whose mission in life was to encourage all to be self believing which resulted in many to take up further education particularly in community development. This encouragement was accompanied by that lovely smile.
Sincere condolences to the entire family. Rest easy lovely lady, your work is done.

Deepest sympathy to Sr. Claire’s family and friends, and to all in St Louis. Such a lovely lady. May her gentle soul rest in peace. On behalf of all the staff of the St. Louis family.
Joining with all who were blessed to have walked along the path of life with Clare with mixed emotions- sadness and joy- knowing that Clare has gone to where her heart has long desired to be, deep in the heart of God. Her most constant word in her last years was ‘blessed’ as she continually gave thanks for all whom she knew and loved. Clare gave her all, quietly, discreetly, consistently as she lived present to whatever situation presented itself. She combined her quick and perceptive intelligence with a truly compassionate heart from where she moved to ‘be with’ others as collaborators and friends in service of creating a caring and just world. May we each recall her with gratitude and realise how she helped us to live from our deeper selves. Sincere sympathy to Clare’s beloved nieces, nephews and extended families and to her St. Louis family whose ‘Sint Unum’ was her abiding inspiration along with “Me for you”, as Jesus lived.
Deeply saddened to hear the news of Clare's passing. May she rest in peace.
Sincere sympathy Moira and all the Ryan Family on your sad loss. Sr.Clare was a lovely lady and may your memories of her bring you all comfort in the days ahead. Rest in Peace Sr Clare.
