I’m so sad to see Sr Gerardine has died. I really regret not calling to see her for quite a while. She was the loveliest, kindest, funniest and most sincere nun I ever met! I remember well our first meeting. She was very cautious getting me to create a wedding candle as she hadn’t seen my work before ordering! When we met near Temple street we clicked instantly and I knew I had made a wonderful friend. We used to have great chats about everything and anything and especially rugby!!……Ulster rugby of course!! She took a genuine interest in my life, and especially my daughter Sadbh and loved to hear about her every achievement - we were both so touched when she asked Sadbh to carry the flowers at her golden jubilee celebration. I’ll never forget her enthusiasm, kindness and humour. She supported my work and indeed inspired me in many ways. My sincere condolences to her family who I know loved her dearly. She was a very special woman who has left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Rest in peace Sr Gerardine.
