Our heartfelt condolences to the family, Mercy Community and friends of Sr Philomena.
Phil's deep faith, gentleness, wisdom, courage and humour were and remain an inspiration for those who knew her.
We thank her for much and especially the indispensable part she had in the work of Fr Patrick Murray in the restoration of persons to their true selves.
Asked recently by an 8 year old grandaughter who had never met a nun ,"what is a nun?", to have spent any time with Phil would have provided her with a complete answer.
And to top it all Phil had a wonderful laugh and and made a delicious Moussaka.

Deepest sympathies to the Sr of Mercy, Eddie, Eileen and her many nieces and nephews especially Pat who brought her to Killarney on at least 2 occasions for a little break in her beloved Kerry. I met Sr Philomena in Glenbeigh in 2003 at a nature retreat with Fr Pat Murray and I can safely say without doubt she was the Chef in a mobile home who cooked dinner for 28 of us and I have never tasted food like it and I believe may never again as it was cooked with such love and kindness. I have had a great relationship with Sr Philomena she was a most wonderful human being kind caring a great listener had a good sense of humour and was a joy and an encoyclipeda of wisdom to be with. She enriched my life and I know there is a great welcome for her in the arms of God with her family gone before her, her good friend Sr Canice and Fr Pat amongst others.
