Pat, my deepest sympathy to you and all the family on the death of Terry, RIP. I have very good memories of him while I was in Aravon. He introduced me to my first beautiful Rioja. You will be remembered in my prayers.

Dear Patricia, on behalf of all of us all at Sunnyside Medical Centre, and myself in particular, I would like to extend our sincere sympathy to you and all your family on their sad loss of Terry. We had the absolute privilege of getting to know both of you for such a a short period a few years ago and Terry was such a gentle person, and we were lucky to know him. Our apologies for the late notice, but unfortunately, I only found out recently of your sad loss. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. May Terry Rest in the Peace that he has so richly earned
— David Curtis and Sunnyside Medical Centre
My deepest sympathies to all the O'Malley family. You were blessed with a true treasure of a human. Mr. O'Malley created such an incredible, inspiring and magical place of learning. No doubt he has left an indelible mark on every student who passed through the doors of Aravon. My fondest was at Christmas when he dressed up as Casper one of the wisemen and we unwound his turbin. Forever is our fondest memories.
— Robyn Klinge Quain
Dear Mrs O’ Malley, I am hugely sad to hear of the death of Mr. O’ Malley. He made a huge impact on me in Aravon - going above and beyond to teach me GCSE science when I was only 9 but showed an interest, taking us to SAFE charity events and teaching us about the complexities of Afghanistan, even giving me a precious family violin and calling me into the office to receive a prized egg cup for being a good egg which I still have to this day. I loved being taught by him and I often think of the wisdom, kindness and knowledge you both shared so generously. I appreciate it immeasurably. With deepest sympathy for your huge loss,
— Niamh Hogan

My condolences to Jamie and Pat and the rest of the family
I had a lot of long chats to Terry on the side of the rugby and cricket pitches while he was watching Jamie play. He was a great supporter and very passionate and he was always proud of Jamie but a highlight was when his consistent line and length earned him a match winning hattrick in the junior cricket final
Our thoughts are with you all
God bless you

Ní bheidh a leithéid ann arís. A bright star shone, and still shines. I only spent one year in Aravon School, but while Mr. O'Malley entered his final days, that time has come rushing back. I have many, many memories of Mr. O'Malley's generosity and care for all his pupils and the many many activities organised with love for each and evert individual pupil. Education was much more than simply a classroom, thank you.
Like any pupil might recieve from a great teacher, I am left this weeks with many thoughts about what he taught us, and, questions - questions for me now to find answers to in my own life.
I was priviledged to know one small part of Mr. O'Malley's life, so many other awe inspiring parts I'm left imagining.
With great, great thanks, and heartfelt condolences for the whole family,
Tim Harden

Dear Pat, Kate, Clare, Lucy and Jamie,
We were so sorry that we could not be with you in person at Terry’s farewell today but did join you all online.
For us as a family, the service was very special. With all our four children having attended Aravon, we felt very much a part of this extended family. Pat - you and Terry were central to the development of our family in their formative years and you both left a positive and permanent mark on each of them and indeed on us as parents.
Our condolences go to you all and we trust that you will be held up by the love and admiration in which Terry was held.
Blessings from
— Peter and Patricia Trenier

Pat, Kate, Clare, Lucy and Jamie, Terry was a great friend and neighbour to all of us in the Village next door. He will now in particular always be remembered whenever we toll the original yard bell, which was his parting gift to us from the vaults of Old Conna House when you left Aravon for the last time.He wanted it back in its rightful historic place. A kind gesture which was the measure of the man. My condolences to you all, and I'm sorry that I can't be there to pay my respects. RIP Terry.

Pat, Jamie and all the family,

My sincere condolences on the passing of Terry. My years in Aravon were among the most formative and enjoyable of my life, in large part due to the energy, leadership and kindness of Terry. He created an incredible ethos and atmosphere in the school and I relished every moment I spent there.

His interactive science lessons and his driving us to hockey matches with everybody singing in the back of the van are some memories that particularly stand out for me.

A phenomenal educator, role model and man who will be sorely missed

RIP Terry
— Esmond Greene

Pat, Kate, Clare, Lucy, Jamie and all the family.

Terry was such an important person to me, he was my headmaster and so much more. He said that I could do anything that I set my mind to, but more than that, he truly believed that I could. I was privileged that he chose me as Head Boy, as were so many Head Boys & Girls before and after me. He was strict, but fair, I had a few near misses with flying chalk… Only the lucky ones got to know Terry outside school, and I was one of those, treated as one of the family, mostly when my dad forgot to collect me from school! But also because my “other sister” Clare was always there for me and Trina, like part of the family. An incredible headmaster, man, father and friend. Terry RIP…

Waking us up early in the mornings to break the ice in the swimming pool, these memories are so close to my heart. What a wonderful family you all are, and I pray for you all. I was so sad to hear of Terry’s passing. My two daughters and my son attended Aravon and I got to know Terry a little bit during that time. I loved and admired his commitment to Aravon school and also to the people of Afghanistan. I learnt all I know about land mines from Terry! One of the differences between Terry and most people is that he saw an issue and did something about it. Sadly, most of us don’t put ourselves out. Terry did. My condolences to Pat and the O’Malley family.
