It would take forever to thank all of you who by text, phone, card, verbally or through these condolence pages, contributed to Des's Celebration of life in such heartfelt pouring out of love and appreciation. Des loved and was loved for his generous, selfless empathetic ways. He truly was a gentleman, courageous and tender. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for the way you wrapped us up in your kind thoughts and outpouring of love. We got through our initial loss of Des with your help and support. From his childhood in Longford, his Sisters and brother in law, My Sister and her family, Des's cousins in Borrisokane, from Mels to Blackrock College, DunLaoighre, Seapoint R.F.C. Wexford Wanderers R.F.C. Ashbourne R.F.C.Trinity DURFC and on to friends which he made over the years. He used to preface some sentences with 'A great pal of mine'...and I used to say 'how many great pals have you got?' well it seems he had many! My friends became his. He was as well known to Mount Sackville Staff, Art College Friends, School friends and friends in every walk of life. Des looked Forward and Reflected back, at all times making new friends and bringing his pals from his past with him. He was lucky to have had so much love and myself and our family absolutely thank you all for being there for us.Go raibh maith agaibh, a chairde. To Christina, Robin and Donie, and extended family,I was so sorry to hear of Des’ passing. He was such a lovely considerate man. Any time I bumped into him, he unfailingly asked about all the lads he had coached in WWRFC as minis:- what they were up to, how they were getting on, etc. You always came away from an encounter with Des with a smile on your face! My sincere condolences to you all.

Dear Frances, I'm just reading the deaths on RIP, and am sorry to read that Des has passed away. It has brought me right back to our happy teenage years living opposite each other (over AIB and BOI) on Main Street Longford; we used to sit for hours at the upstairs window in your house watching the "talent"! God be with the days, and happy and carefree they were... I used to be scared of Des, your young brother!! He was so good looking! My condolences to you, Annette and Evelyn and all your extended family... Gillian
