I was very sad to hear of Tom's passing. I taught him guitar for many years. He and I had some great times jamming in his guitar lessons. We played songs that he loved like Blue Bayou and California Blue by Roy Orbison, Unknown Legend by Neil Young and Fernando and Chiquitita by ABBA to name but a few. We bonded over learning and singing these and many other songs together. We also played classical guitar and he enjoyed that too. Every day he was in he brightened my day. He was the best craic and a very intelligent man. He will be missed in Churchtown School Of Music, that's for sure. Rest in peace Tom. Your pal, Andrew

Tommy always in my thoughts, forever in my dreams and enshrined in my heart.
My childhood memories of Captain’s Ave have always stayed with me, Tommy when you threw a bulb on the floor and it didn’t break and Joe gave you the nick name “ Bouncer”. You gave me my first Pea Shooter, I didn’t have it long, me Ma made you take it back. Then the aerial caused the Chimney to fall off the roof into the front garden we were all blessed no one was injured. Then you came up to my house on Cloiginn Park in Ballyfermot and painted the ceiling in the Scullery with Gloss Paint and the colour was purple, you had got the paint for nothing. It was an honour to have you stand in for my Da when I got married. Tommy we didn't see much of each other over the years, my last time with you was at Sean's funeral and I dropped you up to Tallaght. Lots of love Tommy from Paddy, Evelyn & Gilford family.
— Patrick Gilford
Tommy always in my thoughts, forever in my dreams and enshrined in my heart.
"One thing stirs me when I look back on our youthful days; It is the fact that so many people gave us something or were something to us without knowing it. Such people had a decisive influence on us.
They entered our lives and became powers within us. Much that we should not otherwise have felt so clearly or done so effectively was felt and done because we stood under the sway of these people. Hence, we always think that we all live spiritually by what others have given us in the significant hours of our life....If we had before us those who have been a blessing to us, and could tell them how it came about, they would be amazed to learn what passed over from their lives to ours."
Tommy may you have eternal peace.
— Paddy Gilford
To all Toms family our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this sad time.

My dear Thomas. I still remember the first time I spoke to you, three years ago. I had just started working in St James's, and this was one of the first calls I made in this job. You asked me whether I had a spare kidney for you, and I was so confused... Little did I know that over the next few years, I'd become so attached to you.

From the start you were so kind and funny, just an absolute joy to be around. And everyone in the office would know when I was on a call with you, because you'd make me laugh and brighten my day, no matter what.

It's hard to believe you are gone now, but I know you will continue to look out for me, just as you have these past three years.

I am so proud that you called me your friend, and I am proud to call you mine.

Thomas, I hope wherever you are now, you'll have your guitar and a crowd gathered around you to listen to your songs.

You will be missed, but never forgotten.

Rest well, my friend.
— Julia
