Bea and Joe, So sorry to hear this news from my big sister. I was recently looking through old photos and came across a letter Tom wrote to me when my dad died. It was so kind. I often think of him as he was my English teacher and I now write for a living. He was such a good teacher. So sorry for your loss. Thinking of all of you.

Mr Marmion was my English teacher a long time ago. I have such fond memories of reading the book “The Lord of the Flies”. Mr Marmion (who he will always be to me!) said there’s a character in the book called Ralph and that is pronounced Rafe…. Years later I had my youngest son. I always loved the name Ralph (the way Mr Marmion said it should be pronounced) so I thank you so much Mr Marmion because that’s what we named him. We spelt it Rauf but it was after the character in Lord of the Flies. You had a wonderful influence on my life and I will always remember you when I look a my son Rauf.
