My deepest sympathies on your sad loss.

I have exceptionally fond memories of Tom - He was a great friend of my father and us as a family. A regular addition to the house from the time he shared a house with Sean Glynn in Church St., his nights out and memories created in the Central Hotel and afterwards at our home which could even stretch to a sing song - of sorts and always with soup and sandwiches.

Tom was a proud member of the Gardai who wore his uniform with great pride (at sometimes at the most difficult of times on the border) but more than that - he was caring, a gentleman, fair, professional with a wry smile and sense of humour. He was very much part of the community of Blayney.

Rest gently Tom.

Sincere sympathy to the Heraty on the sad passing of Tom. I served with Tom in Castleblayney for almost a decade. He was a very reliable and efficient member. He was an official car driver with responsibility for the upkeep of the patrol cars. He took a great pride in his work. May he rest in peace 🙏

So sorry to hear of Tom’s passing. Like so many others of my generation in the Guards in Castleblayney in the early 80s, Tom became our mentor and a man that we looked up to and had huge respect for. Every one knew Tom, and he was highly regarded. He was an old type Guard, who had an abundance of local knowledge, and he will be sadly missed by all.

Very sorry to hear of the recent death of Tom Heraty.
He was a very decent Garda who applied the law with a lot of common sense.
He knew the difference between people who refused to tax their car and the poor unfortunates who just could'nt afford to for any combination of reasons.
We have lost a decent and honest man whose affection in town was attested to by the number of people who attended his wake and left messages on this website.

Sad to hear of Tom's passing. One of the first people I met on arrival in Castleblayney station in 1983. I worked with him many times over the following years. He was a fantastic community man and a very funny man, working with Tom was always a great laugh. My sincere condolences to his family.
