My deepest sympathy to Kathleen, Anthony, Sharon, Olivia, Edel, Barney, Sylvia, Gerard, Declan, Patrick and the extended Reynolds family on the very sad passing of Tom who will always be remembered with great fondness by his wide circle of friends outside of his family and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Tom was unusual for a Longford farmer in that he ran a mixed livestock and arable growing farm along with his son, Anthony and they also found the time to be successful agricultural contractors as Reynolds Agri.
Tom had a lifelong love of ploughing that he was exceptionally skilled at, and he was an All Ireland champion plough man.
Tom was also a long-standing member of the IFA and was a member of Longford co executive and the national grain committee of the IFA.
I got to know Tom very well when I was involved in the IFA as county chairman and I fondly remember Tom accompanying me to attend the funeral of former IFA president, Rickard Deasy, RIP and also attending an IFA National AGM with Tom in 2002 when John Dillon took office as IFA president along with Ruairhrí Deasy as deputy president, with both of us representing Longford IFA.
Tom like myself had supported John Dillon in the prior presidential election.
Tom had great stories of his involvement with the Farmers Rights Campaign of the 1950s, when he was a young man, and I remember him telling me about protesting farmers blocking bridges at that time.
May his good soul Rest in Perpetual Peace.
