We see his good heart in his daughter Naula. We consider Naula, her husband Eamonn and their children our family as well. Sympathy to all again.

To Nuala, Ruairi and your extended families. So sad to hear of Tom's recent death. I didn't have the pleasure of knowing Tom personally, but having read some of the stories here, I definitely missed out! Some great memories recalled here, which you will no doubt enjoy reading as they bring a smile to your face and definitely a tear to your eye. He was, by all accounts, a legend, highly respected and admired by all those who crossed his path. Let all these memories help you through the sad times. Deepest sympathies to you all. Rest in Peace Tom.
— Marianne O'Dwyer Cavan
Sincere sympathies to the Caslin Family. I've fond memories of Inter cert English classes (Oxygen, Tanzanian tea and standing on my hind legs). He cared deeply about making his students aware of the important things in life and the fragility of our planet - we were much, much the better for his efforts. May he rest in peace.
— Garrett Maguire, Drumalee

My sincere sympathies to all of the Caslin family on Tom’s passing; he was a man possessed of unique wit and admirable social conscience. Whether encouraging us not to watch “the idiot’s lantern”, getting us to engage in critical thinking, or asking us to support Fair Trade with Cuban sweets and Tanzanian coffee, Mr. Caslin’s English classes were memorable, and delivered with an inimitable style. I will always be grateful for an enduring love of the language that he imparted. May he rest in peace.

Such an interesting man - he will be sadly missed . Rest in Peace .

Deepest condolences to Rory & Nuala and all the grandchildren. Tom, who was born in a small village and lived most of his life in a small town was very much a man of the world. His immense interest in a wide variety of topics was inspirational. He was extremely well read and was generous with his knowledge. May we express our deepest sympathy to the Caslin family on the sad passing of their dear Dad. Affably known as Bawna to us mortals who passed through St. Pats College, this great man would regale us of stories from the great explorers, adventurers, a modern-day Ernest Shakleton without the ship Endurance. A Teacher who stepped outside the teaching curriculums to bring explanation and interest to his audience, Bawna walked and talked the talk more than anyone else. Rest in Peace Mr. Caslin, and thanks for the memories. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam.

Missing a true friend. May Mary and Conor meet him on heavenly hillsides and welcome him with Elderberry Wine and pure honey. Lovely memories of Keelagh, Laght, homemade beverages, meals in Robin Hill in Gowna, Christmas night visits to us when our children lapped up his absorbing conversation, Scouts Pantomimes, Dutch cigars and a crooked pipe in the late sixties that gave way to a horror of other people’s fire sticks, Vara his dog that lay at my feet in Tom’s car on the way to Trinity, ASTI branch treasurer, Cavan Credit Union Supervisor, I have a special memory of Tomas on his return to Cavan General after his stroke. I went to visit him and when I was leaving he popped out of the bed and said ‘I’ll go to the door with you’. And he did. It was so disappointing for Tom when his flow of speech did desert him but he still had a warm welcome for us. Keep the angels busy Tom. Patsy and Anne Lee
