‘Up Mayo’ was the greeting he shouted on seeing our Mayo Reg, arriving at a campsite in the Loire on a sunny June afternoon. We were about to make the acquaintance of Tommie, Ceara, Moya and Joe.
What a wonderful week we enjoyed that year and for a few years following , in their company.

We will forever associate you with our summer holidays .
We feel privileged that our chance meeting in the Loire resulted in a lasting treasured friendship.

Enjoy the sunshine of heaven Tommie. You deserve it.

Sincere sympathy to the family of Tommie Gorman on his passing. I would like to add my appreciation of his most compassionate assistance to the families of three young men who were murdered in The Hague in 2000. I was working in the Irish Embassy in The Hague at that time and Tommie was covering the awful tragedy of the deaths of the brothers Vincent and Morgan Costello and Damien Monahan. Tommie organised the speeches for the mothers to read out on television, he managed the filming of the mothers and families at a mass for the victims, and he showed them such sympathy and support that I could see it was a great help to them at an awful time in their lives. He was more than a journalist at that time, he was a man who was genuinely involved with the life situations that he covered.

Deepest sympathy to Tommie’s brother Michael, sister Mary, wife Ceara, daughter Moya, son Joe and all the family on Tommie’s passing. Many happy memories of our childhood days with all the Gorman family, our next door neighbours on Cairns Road until we moved to Dublin in the early 70s. The last time the O’Donnell and Gorman families got together, thanks to Tommy contacting everyone, was in 2019 at the Hawk's Well, Sligo for the launch of Fifty Poems by his brother Michael Gorman. Unfortunately, as Covid was still with us, many of the family missed the launch of Tommy’s book ‘Never Better - My life in Our Times" in Trinity College, Dublin in which our Dad gets an honourable mention in the opening pages. Rest in peace Tommy, you will be for ever remembered.
— Adrian & Anne (nee O'Donnell) Murray & all the O'Donnells
Sincere sympathy to Tommies family and friends on his sad passing. His funeral mass was so special, very fitting for the man he was. Joes eulogy was outstanding. I will always remember how upset my mum was when she told me of Tommies diagnosis and him travelling abroad for treatment when I was 13 years old . We all respected and loved him so much! I grew up living close to Roy Keane (in the parks) and i loved Tommies interview with Roy ! It was fabulous. Rest in Peace Tommie. A true GENTLEMAN XXX

Sincere sympathies to all of you on the loss of your beloved Tommie. I had the pleasure of hearing him at the writers festival in Lismore 2 weeks ago. I was shocked to hear of his sudden death. I greatly admired him as a broadcaster but his humanity and zest for life despite ongoing illness endeared him greatly to me that day. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers in the weeks ahead. May he rest in peace.
— Jacinta ORiordan
I am so sorry for the loss of Tommie. While the nation will feel his loss, it will be nothing in comparison to the gaping hole that will be left in your family. He would be so proud of all you in how you conducted yourselves for his funeral. Joe your eulogy was excellent from the words to how it was delivered.
— Sinead

Deepest sympathy to Tommie’s dearest Ceara, Moya and Joe on your loss. Tommie was surely a unique man and a true public servant, with many talents including connection and friendship, along with a huge commitment to peace. He packed so much good into his too-short life. It was a privilege to know him and in common with thousands of others I will miss him. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dhílis.
