On behalf of all members of the Howth Special Amenity Area Committee, I wish to express our true sorrow for Tommy and condolences to his family. A big and big-hearted man, he was never found wanting in supporting positive community initiatives in his area, not least the work of the local groups maintaining and protecting our precious local environment.

We were shocked when we heard of Tommy's passing last Friday. As were most of Howth. Tommy was an absolute legend. You knew you were home when you saw Tommy's smile and welcome which he had in abundance. Tommy was the backdrop of all our youths.. Desperately trying to navigate past him into the back when you shouldn't have been there.. Always a chat, and a laugh. It is so sad to think that he has passed. Huge condolences to Eileen, Tom, Bri and all his family and close friends. Ar Dheis De a raibh go hanam. Tara and Alan
— Tara Mullen and Alan Kelly
A very good sort, decent and kind. A great loss so young. Friday nights in the Waterside were always something to look forward to when he was there. The place was never the same when he left. He brought a bus load of us to Guinness one Saturday where we got the "Special Tour". There he treated us to lunch and drinks. And then we went back to the Summit where he bought even more treats for us.
In life we sow a garden by our acts and in the way we interact with people - Toms garden is full of wonderful blooms always.
