My sincere condolences to Kim and the extended Murphy Family.

I was deeply saddened that I only learned of Tommy's passing today, 4th April. May his gentle soul Rest in Peace. He is reunited with your Mum, Anna now.

I have very fond memories of his razor sharp wit when I was a naive young man. "Smart boy wanted. Strong and hard working. Apply within. (Horse died)".

Sleep easy mo chara.

We were saddened to hear of Tommy's passing and extend our heartfelt condolences to Carol and Kim and all of the family and his partner Gertie. Tommy's name was synonymous in my home owing to his friendship and loyal to my late father Con in politics during his lifetime. When I entered politics in succession to Con I am forever grateful I also benefited ftom that loyalty and friendship. He had the passion and dedication to drive projects forward which is clearly demonstrated in his work for St.Mary's Hospital and the IABA. We will always remember Tommy for his generosity, courage, tenacity and his sense of humour which endeared him to all who knew him. He was devoted to his family and he will be greatly missed we hope with the support of family and friends together with happy memories it will help you cope through the difficult times. May Tommy Rest in Peace.

My sincere condolences to the Murphy Family on the sad passing of a person who stood firmly by his convictions. Tommy did indeed fight the good fight and Drogheda and the surrounding areas benefitted from his involvement in many pressing issues. One campaign in particular was ‘Save St. Mary’s Hospital Campaign’ and thanks to his participation we know that the excellent care for many of our older people continues at St. Mary’s Hospital. Tommy will be certain of a warm welcome in heaven from many former St. Mary’s Hospital committee members who sadly have passed over the years. Rest in peace Tommy.

So sad to hear that Tommy has died. What a great servant of Drogheda he was. He worked so hard for the town and its people and was so very proud of his roots. No matter what your political affiliation you couldn't doubt that Tommy always only wanted the best for Drogheda and if he wasn't happy about something he was well able to speak his mind and fight for what he believed in. I covered the council meetings during many of Tommy's years as as a public representative and there were some lively exchanges in the chamber when Tommy was on his feet!
I will always remember Tommy with fondness and will always be grateful for the time he and his late wife Anna took me under their wings when I was covering my first election in Dundalk as a cub reporter. Over the years he didn't always agree with what I wrote (and he let me know it!) but we always remained on good terms and enjoyed the banter when I'd meet him in his 'office' in the Drogheda Town Centre.
Rest easy Tommy and enjoy your eternal rewards.
Deepest sympathy to Carol, Kim , his partner Gertie and all who love him.

I was very sad to learn of the passing of Tommy.
A proud Drogheda man who always had the town's best interests at heart.
A regular visitor to the council yard, throughout the years, to discuss issues, with Employees, when other public representatives were reticent.
Tommy always tried to transcend party politics to achieve things for the common good.

I’m very saddened to hear of Tommy’s death. I had the privilege of getting to know Tommy when I worked in Louth County Council - a fair and friendly man who always brought a little fun to committee meetings while never losing sight of the important issues he was pursuing. Rest in Peace Tommy and my sincere condolences to Kim, Carol and Tommy’s wider family circle.

Deepest sympathy to the Murphy and Smith families on Tommy's sad passing. Always enjoyed meeting Tommy at Louth Co. Council meetings and events and spent a memorable time in his company when we both represented our respective towns in New York for a St. Patrick''s day parade. On that same visit many old Drogheda friendships were renewed for Tommy and myself at a dinner hosted by the Co. Louth Society of New York. May Tommy rest in peace.
