May I offer my sincere sympathy to Tony’s wife and family on their sad loss .
May he rest in eternal peace . I feel privileged to have worked with Tony as a colleague in Ferbane. I remember him with all his inspirational qualities and his musical talents , which he shared so generously.
Tony endeared himself to both pupils and teachers .
He will never be forgotten by those of us who were fortunate to have known him and I will always treasure these precious memories.
Tony touched so many lives and made the world a better place . He left so many wonderful legacies .
“ Lives of great men all remind us
We can make our lives sublime,
And departing leave behind us
Footprints on the sands of time .”

Just heard about Tony's passing. We are so sorry and have fond memories of visiting him, Liz, Seamus, & Martin in Tullamore and of them visiting us in Sand Mountain, Alabama. Jim especially enjoyed the Irish and American music they played together for neighbors and friends. The world has lost a great traditional musician. Please give our love to Liz and the boys and family. They are in our prayers.

I wish to extend my deepest sympathy to Tony's family, relatives, relations, friends and acquaintances, on their great loss. Like numerous other people, I was very saddened, last week-end, to learn of the passing of this larger-than-life individual. He was my teacher for two years in St. Mary's B. N. S., Ferbane (1976-1978).Great memories of those times. I enjoyed meeting him occasionally, in later years, particularly in 2000, when I worked in the school (as an S. N. A.). He hadn't changed a bit. His legacy, in every respect, is enormous. May his decent and upright soul rest in eternal Heavenly peace. Liam Maher, Ferbane.

Liz and family, we were so sorry to hear about Tony…What joyous memories he left all of us!
Ours included the good fun we had playing around Clonbur, your wedding day and the lovely music, and when Tony stayed here with us on the way to a music festival…
We still treasure the old Finn family photo Tony gave us, lost for decades and found in his old family house in Cahergal…
So many memories, and all of them good, RIP Tony,

Sincerest sympathy to Liz and wider family. Had the pleasure and privilege of sitting beside Tony through our four years in secondary school. His good humour and carefree attitude helped the class of 60-64 to cope with trials and tribulations of boarding school life. Without doubt he was the most popular student in the class.
Tony was ever present in my thoughts even when geographically apart. A once off and unique personality. Thanks for the beautiful memories.
— Michael Broderick
Tony was one of the “characters” of our year, 1960-1964, at Coláiste Éinde, Galway. We were all very fond of him. He had a sparkling wit, great musical talent and a quiet radical outlook especially towards those with an overriding sense of authority. A joy and a pleasure to know. A treasure!
RIP.
— Pádraig Ó Cearbhalláin
So sad to hear of Tony's passing. A great teacher, who taught us more than the school curriculum. From Guitar Lessons, to 'don't spend it all in the one shop', Daisy Dazzlers and all the other little ways and sayings he had. Fond memories, still vivid nearly 40 years later. Sincere condolences to Liz, Seamus, Martin and all his family and many friends. Rest In Peace Tony.

I will always have such fond memories of Tony, from the school days with the unusual but effective teaching techniques! To the pound coin for a few penny joo-joos, to drunken sailors and little boxes, to giving me my first "start" in the IT world, to hating when I'd call him "sir" when I'd meet him 20 years later... Few people have such a lasting impression on so many people, but Tony was definitely one of them. My deepest condolences to Liz, Seamus, Martin and all those who love and miss him most. Rest In Peace Tony.
