Condolences to TV and the Honan family on the passing of Tras. Growing up in Ennis in the 1950s and 60s the people who ran the shops and businesses around the centre of the town were a close knit community. I remember Tras ran Honan’s pub which was close to my father’s shop The Irish House and later Tras’s sister Nancy Barlow had a travel agency further down O’Connell Street.

I remember a tall, fair haired, kind, stylish lady. It is great to see her make her mark in political life a few years later.

It was my great honour and privilege to know Tras and enjoy her sharing extensive life experiences in her unique and imaginative way. As former Principal at Our Lady of Mercy PS in Waterford, I have fond memories of her serving on our Board of Management, attending graduation events and coming to speak to our girls about her vast experiences as a public representative. She was an enormous support to me personally.
