Very sorry to hear the news here in Canada of Turlough’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire family. Always remembering fondly his visit to our special place one summer at Sauble Beach on Lake Huron, and also his wonderful hospitality when we visited Ireland up in Cooley. “ Oh they say people come, say people go,this particular diamond was extra special, and though you might be gone, and the world may not know, still I see you in Everglow. “- Coldplay. “ So if you love someone, you should let them know, oh the light that you left me, will everglow “

I was so very saddened to hear about my uncle Turlough's passing. He was such a kind, gentle and sincere person. Whenever I visited Ireland, Turlough & Margaret made me feel so welcomed. I still have gifts that Turlough gave me as a teenager, including a plush dog and a beautiful handmade scarf which I still wear every winter.

I admired Turlough's adventurous spirit and his many interesting travels - I remember him sharing moments from his Route 66 trip and the humour he had when describing standing on the corner in Winslow, Arizona. He was interested in so many things and I admired his zest for life.

To Margaret, and Turlach, Tomás, Seán and Caoimhín, I am so very sorry for your heartbreaking loss.
Turlough will be remembered with love.

I was shocked to hear of the very untimely passing of Turlough. We worked together back in the 70s in Galway and then later for several years in Dublin. He was always ready for a chat about our crazy hobby of Hi Fi, what amplifier or turntable was best etc. Turlough visited our ex Decies coffee morning in Galway a couple of years ago and we were able to pick up where we left off many years ago. That was the way with Turlough, he had a great memory for small details and we could chat for ages. He was a real gentleman in every sense of the word. He will be missed by all who knew him. I would like to offer my condolences to his wife Margaret and everyone in his family. May he rest in Peace.
— Willie Shaw
Sincere condolence to Margaret and family.

Worked at the same time as Turlough in Digital Galway and later in Dublin and met at the annual get together at Christmas time in Dublin. I remember Turlough for the lovely welcoming and beaming smile that he always showed. Someone else noted earlier of Turlough's technical skills. Specifically for those that worked in Digital Field Service, some might remember this. Those working with VMS operating system (like Windows, but different) were asked to familiarize themselves with the UNIX operating system. Turlough was a UNIX expert and he was tasked with helping us to cross train to UNIX. He started the conversion/conversation with: "you know that in VMS when you want to edit a file or document you use the EDIT command, a straight forward English word, EDIT".
Well UNIX also has an edit command and this is called "vi". And with a big smile at our astonished faces he chuckled, and the conversion continued. What a sense of humour.
RIP Turlough, John

Two years ago Ciara and I had the great pleasure of being taken on an adventure through the Cooley Mountains by Turlough and Brian. Our little car bounced along the country roads through miles of purple heather to special family haunts and viewpoints that overlooked stunning green farmlands and the coast. It was my first trip to Ireland and I felt so welcomed by everyone. I felt especially lucky to hear Turlough and Brian’s stories on that beautiful day. Ciara took a photo of Turlough, Brian and I standing on the pier at Gyles’ Quay as the late afternoon sun made its way towards the sea. We are all lined up at the very edge of the quay, facing the water, looking down into its depths. There had been a couple stories about visits to the quay when the brothers were young but now we were just standing there together, silent, and totally at ease. It’s one of our favourite pictures from our trip that year, and that day trip is one of my best memories of Turlough. I am grateful for the time we spent together, for the stories and the memories. We are so saddened by the loss of Turlough. There are no words to express it or ease your pain. A short story and an image of your husband, father, brother and dear friend and my deepest condolences and love is all I can share. May you all be blessed by your memories of him. Love Diana

Forever a gentleman, it was my pleasure to have known and worked with Turlough. That I stopped working with him almost 22 years ago and could still pick up a conversation with him years later was an indication of the warmth, honesty and sincerity he held as a person. He will be sadly missed by his many ex-colleagues, not least by those who continue to meet for drinks at Christmas in The Old Stand. RIP my friend.

Our sincere condolences to Margaret, Seán, Janine & Matthew on the loss of your husband, father and grandfather. We had the pleasure of knowing Turlough in RTC Dundalk. I also worked with Turlough in DEC at the Galway Plant. The Dundalk RTC gang had great camaraderie, I used to pick Turlough up at his home in Cooley and when we travelled together the journey to Galway was very short as the craic was mighty. Turlough was kind, generous, intelligent and very witty an absolute gentleman. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

What a beautiful person Turlough was and this picture captures him so well. He was a warm and welcoming man with a great sense of fun, who had time for everyone. I rember his cheeky smile and how he would settle his glasses on his nose as he engaged in conversation. I remember his reminiscing of his Route 66 adventure and his love of music was very evident in his conversations. He appreciated, loved and lived life and had such a great love and appreciation for his family and work colleagues. I remember Turlough from my time in Sabeo also. Thinking of his family at this sad and lonely time. It was a privelage to have known him. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
— Rosanna Curran

We were truly saddened when we heard the news of Turlough's death. I have great memories of happy times with Turlough, whether it was touring Europe in the minibus, going to a concert in the old National Stadium and the festival in Macroom, cycling and camping at Lisdoonvarna, visiting Cooley, listening to the latest addition to his music collection, as well as the odd hour of work together. I'm sure Margaret and the family have many more happy memories of a great husband and father and I hope that, in time, these will ease the sorrow you now feel.
May his gentle soul rest in peace.
