To the Mulkerns Kennedy family,
The Toscaireacht and members of Aosdána wish to extend our deep sympathy and condolences to the Mulkerns Kennedy family on Val's passing. I was always delighted to meet Val at the Aosdána General Assemblies and loved hearing her witty stories and anecdotes at lunchtime. We took part together in the RTE Sunday Miscellany 1916 programmes and we recorded the shows live in the National Opera House Wexford in late 2015. We had a hilarious conversation together in the 'local chipper' after the show. She will be missed.
— Michael Holohan, Chair of the Toscaireacht of Aosdána

Sincere sympathy on the death of your mother Val. Many happy memories of times as young adults in your house.
— Emer O'Flaherty
We had great pleasure in Looking after Val & her husband in our home many years ago."A Woman of substance".Never forgotten.
— Gemma& Declan Hearne.Innyard Hse.Wexford.
In a world where women, and especially mothers, were straight-jacketed by social expectation, Val was simply herself. I treasure the hours spent in her household, and above all I treasure her encouragement and example. A true original.
