Dear Mary,
We are shocked and saddened to learn of Val's sudden departure from us. Our sincere sympathy to you and to all extended members of the Nelson and Burke families.
As you know, we have known Val for years because he was a very dedicated and loyal volunteer at Knock Shrine where everyone will miss him greatly.
A really sociable man, he loved a chat and always had great stories to relate, brimming with humour. We often told him, in fun, that he was the last of the great old Dubliners. RIP.
We are certain that Our Lady of Knock will welcome him home and also comfort and console you, Mary at this sad time for you.
