My condolences to the extended Gillooly family, to Fr Steve, Fr Pat and the St. Anne's staff and community on the death of Fr. Dominick. While in Ransboro, over forty years ago, Fr. Dominick was involved in all aspects of the community and he took part in and supported the Coolera Pantomime in the early years of this production. He encouraged all to take part in the liturgy as readers, singers or musicians and he particularly enjoyed the singing of the choir and joining in with us. The funeral mass today was a fitting tribute to Fr.Dominick's life. Suaimhneas síoraí dá anam uasal dílis.

The boys too, remember "God" at mass with the sweets!! Ill never forget the phone call nealry 20 years ago welcoming me to Mercy Primary, he said "we are a big family, you'll be very happy" and he was so right, he lead the way with kindness. Deepest sympathies to his family and friends at St. Annes . He will be sorely missed

My sincere condolences to Fr. Gillooly's family and to everyone at home in St. Anne's parish. I attended the funeral service online today from Staffordshire, England. I very much wish I could have been there in person. It is difficult to find words adequate to pay tribute to Fr. Gillooly and his remarkable service to God through his ministry to all of us lucky enough to have grown up with him as our Parish Priest. I know I will not be alone in being able to say that I have photos taken with Fr. Gillooly at both my Communion and Confirmation in St. Anne's as well as photos of him baptising my child there. He was a wonderful friend to our family and greatly respected by all of us and he was there for us in our most difficult and sorrowful times as well as our most joyous. I will never forget his arm around my shoulder keeping me on my feet in one of the most difficult moments of my life and how his reassuring voice gave me the courage I needed. The gates of Heaven will surely have opened wide to welcome in Fr. Gillooly who is now with God. I'm sure there was a large Sligo contingent among the welcoming committee at the pearly gates and can picture some of the happy faces of those delighted to be reunited with their dear priest again. RIP Fr. Gillooly

Sincere sympathy to all at St Annes and to Fr Dominick's family on your great loss. He was an exceptional person, able to handle so many roles and give so much to everyone who looked for his assistance. It was nothing to him to hop in a car to attend and concelebrate a wedding or a funeral at the other end of the country to support a parishioner or staff member at one of the institutions under his care. Years ago a secretary at the department of education pleaded that "Big Dom" not be set on them when the school needed a building and he was prepared to sit in their office until he made progress on the issue, and that was a suitable if slightly disrespectful title for him, he was a big man with a big voice, a huge capacity to handle so much and a big heart.
Some people just can't be replaced. We may just be grateful that we were lucky enough to have known them.May he receive his eternal reward.
