I am sad to hear that Canon Kevin has passed on. He was a larger than life figure and very much a people-person. I fondly remember my years teaching in Summerhill in the 90’s under his Principalship. He was sincere, supportive and so genuine. His speeches were legendary and what a wit he had. We could always count on words of wisdom and a considerable sprinkling of Latin! I am blessed to have known such a wonderful man who gave me my first break in my career. I am so glad that we kept in touch over the years and that I took the opportunity to thank Kevin personally for everything he did for me in those early days. To his family and many friends and to his brother priests, I offer my deepest sympathies on your great loss. God Bless you dear Kevin. I will miss our chats. May you enjoy eternal peace in your heavenly home.

35 years since I have been a student in Summerhill College and I will never forget Father Earley. He thought me Business Organization and although I was an underachiever he always motivated me by telling me I had ‘brains to burn’ and would succeed with a little effort. You never gave up on me Father Earley and I thank you for that. You were a wonderful person and may you Rest In Peace my friend.
— Kevin Ryan
I a former pupil, was a great admirer of a great teacher, compassionate man, priest, but so much more than that. A man who understood teenagers, a man that didnt have to command respect, it was bestowed on him naturally and liberally. A huge loss to so many people but his memory will never be forgotten. A huge man in presence and in life, in character and in his devotion to education and guidance. There are some people that should be celebrated as national heros and Fr kevin is one of those. God bless you and grant you the love and peace of heaven that you so richly deserve.
