Condolences to the Morrison family on the passing of Vincent. He is the last of the great characters that came out of Bessborough Avenue and the last of the original members of Strand Athletic. Vincent played right full back for "Strand" when I first started playing center half for them at age 19 and was my protector. He was tough as nails. He played full back the old fashioned way. No "wing-back" antics like Seamus Coleman. The role was simple then: When the "winger" came dribbling down the side line "Man, ball and all" was sent over the line. Vincent was a master of the sliding tackle and could slide across the grass on his back for about 8 feet, right foot extended and with sniper precision knock the ball over the line. The winger was collateral damage!
