I've just shed a quiet tear. I had the honour and pleasure to captain the Old Wesley U19 rugby team in the final of the McCorry Cup back in 1983, almost 40 years ago. The bond all that team shared was very special. I remember saying to Bill in the changing room before that final, "Enjoy this moment Bill because you may never play in a final again....Enjoy it!!" ....I was speaking to myself as much as to Bill. I never did play in another final again which made that match so special and memorable for me. The club 'Honours' scarf I received I still wear with great pride today. Every time I wear it I remember every one of that team in one of their finest sporting moments. Bill was one of the legends on that team. It was very, very special.
To Bill's family I extend my deepest and most sincere sympathies. It is a very, very sad day.
— Robert Leslie

Heartfelt Sympathy to Bernie , Mary , Rose and to all near and dear to Bill on your great loss.
Above all else , Bill was a Family Man. I hope there is some solace knowing he is with Eamon and your Mum & Dad.
To witness his bond with your Mum was special.
Bill became an integral part of many families on his travels.
The Kennellys and Quinns were the lucky beneficiaries of his Canadian years. He just fit right in and regaled everyone.
Bill will always be remembered as one of life's great entertainers. A master of stirring the emotions.
From haunting ballads to hysterical stories. Tears of sadness , tears of joy.
Sing-songs with the Clancys and the McCoys.
So many happy memories .
And what wonderful words spoken by Tom and John at the eulogy.
Rest In Peace Bill
