regale my friends with the tales he told with such great wit and humour.

Deepest condolences to Geraldine and all the family on the sad passing of Willie.
Willie was a most intelligent witty well read decent individual. He was also an outstanding vet..Myself (Tom) and himself go back almost 50 years in the vet college.Willie stared out studying dairy science in Cork and then changed to veterinary When he arrived to do first vet he talked the powers that be into giving him a year off because he had covered the ground already.. During that year he went over to London and worked on building sites becoming a fully qualified chippy with papers to proof it Every summer after that he went back to London and looked after any classmates that went over with both jobs and accommodation. He always brought back a Ford Anglia or Cortina and kept driving it until it gave up or was stolen. He was most generous with lifts to his fellow students as there were very few students with cars in the seventies.Subsequently as a vet he was most generous with his time and advice.
The death notice states as gaelige “Nì bhèidh a leithèid ann arís”is an understatement.
May the Legend Willie Fitz rest in peace Amen.
— Tom and Minnie Comerford

Heartbroken at the death of Willie. A wonderful friend for over 40 years. What can we say. Willie was one of a kind and a huge loss to all who knew him. A brilliant mind and intellect. After we qualified we worked together at various times. With Willie every farm visit was memorable. A farmer would never forget a call done by Willie.

One of Willie’s great attributes was his generosity of time with his family, friends and clients.

We will always remember that mischievous smile and hearty laugh.

Our prayers and thoughts are with Geraldine, Orlaith, Méadhbh and Michael at this very sad and difficult time.
