Derek Paul Beswick, 77, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2020 with Jean, his beloved wife of 53 years by his side. Derek was born in Dukinfield, UK on May 18, 1942. He will be lovingly remembered
as an amazing, kind and gentle father to his children Sandra (Davidson), Karen Beswick, Paul Beswick and Anita (McGinn) and their partners Simon, Ryan and Tiffany. He was a proud and devoted Grandad to Cianan, Jack, Summer, Nathan, Neil and Devin. Brother of the late Ronnie and Gerald. Derek will sadly be missed by his sister-in-laws, brother-in-law, nephews, nieces, friends and neighbours.
Derek graduated from The City and Guilds Institute of London in 1963 specialising in radio and television engineering. He moved to Ireland in 1965 to marry the love of his life, Jean and to raise their family.
Derek’s distinguished work history was highlighted by his position as a greatly respected service manager in the television industry. His passion for television and media technology were renowned and he was the first colour television engineer in Ireland! He also lectured part time at the college of Dublin Institute of Technology. Derek’s work ethic was second to none and he was proud to share these intrinsic values with his children. Derek was a calm, peaceful man who loved cooking, reading murder mystery novels, a variety of great music and was fond of a drop of cognac or a hot port! His passions included spending time with his family, the great neighbours of Watermill Grove, Clonbullogue and his work colleagues from EverClear, Crystal Clear and Hewlett Packard. He also had a knack for tinkering with and collecting “broken things”, which he loved to keep around “just in case!”
