The death has occurred of

Esther Jennings
(née Young)

Artane, Dublin

Jennings (née Young), Esther – April 25th 2020. Esther, beloved wife of the late Patrick and loving mother to her six children, died peacefully in the loving care of her family and the staff in Beaumont Hospital. Sadly missed by her loving extended family, her children and their spouses Mary, Pat and Gemma, Bernadette and John, Anne and Rory, David and Bernadette, Carol and Paul.

Esther’s brothers and sister, and their spouses Joe and Barbara, May, Davrul, Phyllis and Sean, Liam and Phil, Sean and Angela are also grieving her passing. Her grandchildren, their spouses and partners, her extended, blended family, all mourn her; Emily, Bebhinne and Tom, Olwen, Liam, Niamh, Patrick and Fionnula, Ellen and Matt, Inge, Marjolein and Johan, Ruth, Nicola, Warren, Kellie, Hannah, Fiona and Ed, Zoran and Cherish, Joseph and Elisa, Christopher and Gemma. Esther’s beloved great-grandchildren will sadly miss her; Adam, Pandora and Scarlett. Her large extended family of nieces and nephews, their partners and children were a significant part of her life and she of theirs. She had a particular closeness with her many godchildren and loved our cousins ‘up the road’ the Hogans, Irene, Gerard and Dermot had over the years been a great support to her. Her Kilkenny connections including her cousins the Stapleton’s, McCarthy’s were really important to her and we know the extended family will sorely miss her.

Esther delighted in her large family and was intensely proud of their achievements great and small; none had a fault that couldn’t be overlooked and forgiven. She had the gift of friendship and remained friends with the fabulous Aitken’s sisters all their lives. She made new friends throughout her life. Her neighbours knew they could rely on her at all times. In later years, Esther was supported by the Homecare team from Coolock Social Services, especially Michelle, and the family will be forever grateful to them for their support and diligence.

Esther was 96 when she died, she had lived a full life, happy and sad, she had seen so much and moved with the world. She mourned the death of many friends and family but especially her beloved husband, Paddy, and her much loved brothers and sisters-in-law Seamus and Joan, Tony and Marie, Pat, Eamonn and Carole.  She spoke of them easily and taught us how to mourn and celebrate. Esther had a full and generous life.  We will miss her enormously and will celebrate her always.

May Esther Rest in Peace
