Helen Mary Heaney

Helen Mary Heaney passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family in the early morning of Tuesday October 24, 2023. Helen lived a full and wonderful life of 59 years, 29 of those married to William Savage, the love of her life. Helen was born in Galway, Ireland to Theresa and Anthony Heaney, though she spent many years in Toronto, Canada where she became a devoted wife, mother and best friend to many. Helen was the beloved mother of Peter Savage and Liam Savage, and was always so proud of her sons. Helen was also seen as a second mother to many of Peter and Liam’s close friends and she will be missed by many. Along with being a wife and a mother, Helen was dear sister to Michael Heaney, Peter Heaney, Noeleen Cosgrove, Mary Greenwold, Anne Webster, Caroline Heaney, and Teresa Heaney. She will be greatly missed by her extended family members including her nieces and nephews. Helen will also be greatly missed and remembered by her close friends Brendan O’Leary, Jane Williamson, Karen Malone, Eileen Lawlor, and Mary Keogh along with friends and neighbours in Guildwood village. Helen’s family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Providence Healthcare.

A public visitation will be held at McDougall & Brown Funeral Home- Scarborough Chapel (2900 Kingston Rd, Scarborough, ON, M1M 1N5) on Sunday October 29, 2023 from 3pm to 5pm. The visitation will be followed by a public memorial service at 5pm in the chapel on site. (The service will start at 9pm Sunday night, Irish time and will be livestreamed here).

Reception to follow at the Olde Stone Cottage Pub (3750 Kingston Rd, Scarborough, ON, M1J 3H5) to cheers and celebrate her life in Irish fashion.
