Slipped away in the early morning of the 19/06/2024.

Jack a much loved intelligent and talented man who was involved in some of the most important archaeoastronomical discoveries of our time at Irish megalithic monuments and sites throughout Ireland. He was also well known in Kinvara through his shop and in Galway City with his connections to the market. Jack slipped away peacefully on the 19th of June 2024, in the fantastic care of University Hospital Galway.

Cherished and much loved by all, Jack will be fondly remembered by his daughter Sophie Pentek, son-in-law Raj Padam, grandchildren Eli, Surinder and Thea. Sadly missed by his brother Andy, sister-in-law Wendy, nephews Jamie & Chris and niece Julie (Sussex, U.K), relatives, neighbours, many close friends in Galway & Cork and colleagues throughout Ireland and beyond.

“ At Rest “

A gathering of Jack’s family and friends will take place in Seomra Ciúin, within Gort Town Hall, Church Street, Gort, (H91 E0C8) on Saturday afternoon, June 22nd, from 1pm until 3pm. The funeral cortege will then depart for Shannon Crematorium, Illumnagh, Shannon Co. Clare (V14 PV30) to arrive for a celebration of Jack’s life and final committal service at 4pm.

The family deeply appreciates your kindness and support at this time. We wish to thank all who cared for Jack during his illness. Finally, a special word of thanks to our wonderful family, neighbours and friends for all they have done to help us in these difficult days.
