The death has occurred of

Janice Barry

Dublin

At 11:01pm last night, arguably one of the brightest lights this world has ever seen went out. Our beautiful Mammy, Jan Cave Barry made what can only be described as an untimely and shocking departure from this world. Her heart stopped suddenly on Tuesday, February 18th and we thought we lost her then and there, but for 10 days she kept us all on our toes, pun intended. Surrounded by four out of her five children, four of her nine grandchildren and her beloved husband of 53 years, she bid us all farewell. Our only comfort is that she is reunited with her mother and father and her dear boy, Chris, whose tragic death broke her heart 6 months ago when he was so cruelly taken from us. Mammy said then that she wanted to hold his hand and take him to Heaven. We know he was who she could see as she made her way last night.

For all of you that knew her well know that she was not one to leave a party early and so the best way to honour her memory is to have a celebration in each of her home countries, Ireland, England and Spain. Until we make those arrangements please keep her in your hearts, share your stories and pay tribute to this uniquely talented, creative, loving, caring, generous of spirit, fascinating and beautiful woman, with the most wicked sense of humour and lust for life. Mammy always ended an argument with, “You’ll miss me when I’m gone”…. And as usual, you are right, Mammy. More than you can imagine. 💜

Jan was survived by her husband, James Barry. Her children, Joanna, Mark, Jennie, Louise and partners Steve, Rhoda, Sandra, Anthony and Dave. Her sister, Bev, partner Jerry, niece Zoe and nephew Barn. Her grandchildren, Amy, Christian, Daniel, Alex, Rhys, Grace, Lucie, Carey and Eireann.
