In Loving Memory,
Jeremiah (Jerry) Linehan of Calgary, Alberta son of Denis and Kathleen Linehan of Kanturk, Co.Cork, Ireland, passed away peacefully with family at his side, on December 26th, 2023 at the age of 83 years old after a short battle with AML Leukemia.
A Roman Catholic Funeral service will be held on January 4th, 2024 at Ascension Catholic Parish at 11:00 am MST with a procession commencing at 1:15 pm, to the Graveside service at Edenbrook Cemetery. Please see below for livestream information for anyone that would like to view remotely.
Jerry was born on September 1,1940 to Kathleen and Denis Linehan, in Kanturk, Co. Cork, Ireland. Jerry was the second oldest of 5 siblings. In 1965, Jerry left Ireland, to work in England, from England, he continued his career as a Heavy Duty Mechanic, in Toronto, Ontario, which eventually led to him placing his roots in Calgary, working for the Canadian Pacific Railway, in which he retired.
Jerry will be greatly missed by his daughter, Deirdre and her husband Paul, his son, Eamonn and wife, Stacey along with two wonderful grandchildren, Faolon and Lochlan.
Jerry is survived, by his loving siblings, Mary Lovric of Calgary, Alberta, Denis Linehan, and wife Beanna of Calgary, Alberta, Eileen Singleton of County Waterford, Ireland, Sheila O'Reilly, and husband Tom of County Claire, Ireland, and predeceased by his brother Jim Linehan and sister in law, of Kanturk,Co, Cork, Ireland., aswell as numerous nieces, nephews, and long time friends, in Ireland, Calgary, Alberta and surrounding areas. Memories will be fondly cherished, with long time friend, Bernie McClernon, also of Kanturk, Co. Cork Ireland, residing in Calgary, Alberta, along with Bernie's prefeceased wife Margaret McClernon.
Jerry was an avid outdoorsman, he loved to fish, hunt and camp whenever he had the opportunity. His pastimes included fishing trips to Alaska, British Columbiam and Newfoundland. Jerry also could be found fishing at the Blackrock River in Co. Cork and local fishing holes around Alberta. Jerry's most recent hunting trip, this past November, near Rimby, AB was successful and memorable.
No matter where Jerry went, he always was making friends, telling memorable stories, or teaching someone something new. He was kind, and a true Irish gentleman. He will be dearly missed by many. As Jerry would say, "I'll see you on the other side."
